MORE ABOUT KOMALIKA

If you’ve ever spent some time with young children, you must’ve found them asking questions like, “Where do babies come from?”. While sometimes a difficult question to answer for parents, it gives a glimpse of humanity’s innate desire to understand the self through the world.
“Where do we come from?” is a question that is complemented by, “Where are we going?”
While religion, history, and sciences all strive to provide an answer, I believe we won’t really have an answer without an interdisciplinary approach.
While self-awareness may provide some insights, it also opens doors for new questions.
What does it mean to be conscious? Why are we the way we are, and ‘be’ the way we do? What happens when ‘being’ pauses/ends at a perceptual level?
Trying to find answers in Religion (experientially), and History and Philosophy (academically), I stumbled upon Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
While I was pursuing an undergraduate degree in Philosophy to have a deeper understanding of religion and feminism, quite a lot changed in 2021.
It was when I had my first VR experience of the ‘Walk the Plank’ game in 2021, that I experienced the texts of Martin Heidegger became experiential knowledge rather than mere inferences. It also woke me up to the potential of technology.
Since then, I’ve been working in and exploring, AI, Web3, and XR industries. It has taught me the importance of attention (an important aspect of our consciousness) in the pursuit of anything, especially our curiosity.
Unfortunately, many of us do not pay enough attention to where we direct our focus or realize when our attention is being hijacked.
While technology is the mirror that reflects human nature at a surface level; it has also augmented human nature in unfathomable ways. The average attention span of a human being now compares to that of a goldfish.
Today, emerging technologies like AI, Web3, cloud computing, robotics, etc. are on an exponential growth curve as they become a part of our everyday lives. We might not want to deaccelerate their benefits, but it remains paramount that we build responsibly.
I’m excited to connect with like-minded people building responsibly in AI, Web3, and biohacking industries for social good.
